# why auto update plugin?

 * Why was the main plugin auto updated to 4.0? and without any notice to users?(
   and no, no auto-update was enabled on the site)
   Luckily we had a backup of old
   plugin, so we could revert back so users could access their courses and everything.

 * Tutor LMS does not automatically update itself.
 * Plugin updates are managed by **WordPress** or your hosting environment. In some
   cases, managed hosting providers or WordPress configurations may automatically
   install plugin updates, even if auto-updates appear to be disabled.
 * If Tutor LMS 4.0 was installed without any action from you, it’s likely that 
   the update was triggered by your WordPress or hosting environment rather than
   by Tutor LMS itself.
 * If you’d like, you can check with your hosting provider to determine what initiated
   the update.
