Why are there 2 Shareaholic plugins in the WordPress directory

    Why are there 2 Shareaholic plugins in the WordPress directory.

    Here is the reason –

    The word “sexy” in the plugin URL slug (the other plugin – the one without the “*”) gets blocked by certain corporate networks and ISP’s in certain countries.

    We requested WordPress to switch the URL slug from “sexybookmarks” to “shareaholic” in order to fix this. We learnt that this is not possible… and the only thing for us to do is to create a new plugin repository under “shareaholic”. So that is what we did…

    The two plugins are *exactly* the same otherwise. Line for line.

    Just delete the other plugin… it’s confusing. It’s also out of date, and it also inserted (or may still insert) Google Analytics tracking without user consent.

    @rob I wish WordPress made it easy to do that — or ideally, made it easy for us to push everyone over to upgrade from SexyBookmarks to Shareaholic. In lieu of that, we’re going to be mirroring the Shareaholic plugin over at SexyBookmarks. Coming really soon.
