Why are tags suddenly in /archives/tag/…?

  • Is this a change in WordPress 3.1.3 as opposed to 3.0 which I’ve run before, or why are all tags and categories now in the (virtual) /archives subfolder? How can I change it back to plain $HOME/tag, $HOME/category etc.? I’ve not set any custom paths for these, I’ve just updated my WordPress installation to the current version the other day.

The permalinks haven’t been changed at all in WP 3.1.3. This must be a problem that is specific to your site.

Hm well, for the time being I’ve changed the permalinks to $HOME/tag and $HOME/category manually now so that the URLs Google indexed don’t break. Still weird. In which file are the default URLs for categories, tags and author set? Maybe something got borked there? Could it be due to the Counterize plugin that I’ve reinstalled recently, i.e. that plugins may cause this to happen? FWIW, the page is http://benung.nfshost.com
