  • FYI: I am about as clueless as a sole can be regarding programming. I am a single mom trying to get my site up and running as cheaply/quickly as possible, while working 2 other jobs. I have a great site idea, and I desparately need the income from an advertiser who has pledged to me.
PROBLEM: When I unzip wp on my computer, 90% of the files associate with (first try) photoparades(?) and (2nd try) broderbund quick print. I know this can’t be right. I’ve downloaded it repeatedly. I even deleted photoparades from my hard drive, but now they files all want to open with broderbund. Should my files be trying to open with or associate with programs on my computer? Should I just upload it anyway, and the problem will take care of itself? Thanks in advance to anyone kind enough to help me. You guys are the best for doing this stuff for free!

  • Yeah, don’t worry about it. Just upload it, I suppose. If you need to edit wp-config.php for server configuration, just right-click on the file and click Open with... and select Notepad or Wordpad

You were right. Thanks Alphaoide. It made no difference. I’m on to the next challenge . . .lol

Just a tip. If you want to change what program opens a file then right click the file and choose ‘properties’. Near the top you’ll see a button named ‘change’. That’s where you can edit file associations. Some programs try to steal associations back too, just one of the fun things we get for running windows.
