    Hi,

I did a performance test on my site and noticed that your plugin is loading a javascript file from your site that is costing my site a few hundred milliseconds of delay: https://static.addtoany.com/menu/page.js

Why are you serving this file this way instead of just including it in your plugin?

    Hi Wayne,

That’s the core AddToAny JavaScript file, which keeps the plugin fast, secure, up-to-date, and well-cached across the globe so it loads instantly on sites.

Actual load times are in the tens of milliseconds, definitely not hundreds, so be wary of “performance test” tools which vary greatly from real world performance. Your browser’s developer tools are a better indicator.

If you prefer to locally host the file with daily updates, local hosting is an option with the AddToAny plugin. However it’s almost always more performant to have AddToAny’s content delivery network serve the file.

    Hi Micropat,

Thanks very much for your speedy response. The actual download is tens of milliseconds. It’s the DNS lookup, connection, and SSL handshake that bump it to a few hundred milliseconds. For whatever reason, it also appears to be blocking.

I’ll try your plugin settings and take it from there.

    Wayne
