 * Genuine question: Why did you create this plugin? vs for example, contributing
   to the [Mautic official](https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mautic/) plugin. What
   is the Mautic official lacking that you felt you needed to write something of
   your own. Mautic do [say](https://forum.mautic.org/t/is-the-wordpress-mautic-plugin-still-functional/32909/6)
   [2](https://github.com/mautic/mautic-wordpress/issues/129) they are looking for
   someone to help with the official plugin.
 * Again, not being sarcastic or passive aggressive. I genuinely want to understand
   as I am considering that I need a Mautic plugin for my own install, instead of
   simply embedding Mautic code manually.

 * Thanks for the genuine question! We built this plugin because many of our clients
   use Mautic with WooCommerce, which the official Mautic plugin doesn’t support.
   The official plugin also hadn’t been updated very frequently (still true as of
   now), and our clients needed a solution fast. Instead of waiting for updates
   to the official plugin, we created our own to quickly meet their needs, starting
   with a simple lead-capture checkbox at WooCommerce checkout and expanding to
   sync customer purchases with Mautic. We shared it on the repo to make it easier
   to maintain and add features as needed.
   Mautic’s call for someone to manage the
   official plugin came after we’d already developed ours, but we’re not really
   interested in taking on that role. This plugin is a key part of our portfolio,
   showcasing our ability to deliver tailored solutions for clients, and maintaining
   it aligns with our business goals. That said, we’re open to discussions about
   collaboration if it makes sense for our team and clients. If you’re considering
   a plugin for your own Mautic setup, we’d be happy to share insights or discuss
   your needs! If you don’t have WooCommerce, then Mautic’s official plugin should
   be perfectly acceptable.

 * Thank you [@dogbytemarketing](https://wordpress.org/support/users/dogbytemarketing/)
   for helping me understand your thinking. Moving to create your plugin rather
   than wait for updates to the official and then sharing that plugin with the community
   makes sense and is admirable.
 * Of course, it your business, your work, your business model, and only you can
   assess the best way forward for you.
 * However, allow me to make a case as a friend: I think that it is still possible
   to achieve your marketing and other goals if you do take over and enhance the
   Mautic official plugin, including Sync Mautic. This is because [@dogbytemarketing](https://wordpress.org/support/users/dogbytemarketing/)
   and @polymarketing will be listed as developers of the plugin. Plus, there’s
   a ruboff sheen of writing the “official” plugin. Not to mention, taking over
   the plugin rated 4.9 based on 8 reviews would likely help grow the installed
   base slightly faster than now, not to mention promotion on official Mautic channels–
   blog, newsletter, github. Bigger installed base means more testing, more robust
   code, more feature ideas, and higher social credit/reputation.
 * I also think that if you are thus entrenched into the Mautic ecosystem, then
   it will be easier to have a voice into Mautic core’s development roadmap in the
   interest of your clients and yourself. Want some specific hooks to deal with
   WooCommerce? Much easier to get done if you are the developer of the official
   WordPress plugin.
 * I do hope you take over the official plugin and bring it to 2024, including making
   it perfect for WooCommerce.

 * Hi [@oc2ps](https://wordpress.org/support/users/oc2ps/),
 * After reflecting on your suggestion, we’re intrigued by the idea of exploring
   a conversation with the Mautic team to better understand their vision for the
   official plugin. We’re cautiously optimistic about the possibility of collaboration,
   as we do have some concerns about ensuring alignment with our business goals
   and the specific needs of our WooCommerce clients. Our plugin was designed to
   address their unique pain points, and maintaining the flexibility to prioritize
   those features is critical for us. That said, we think it could be valuable to
   open a dialogue with Mautic to see if there’s a way to contribute to the official
   plugin or explore complementary efforts without compromising the tailored solutions
   we’ve built for our clients.
 * For now, we plan to reach out to the Mautic team to discuss their goals and see
   if there’s potential for collaboration that aligns with our roadmap. We’ll keep
   an open mind about contributing to the official plugin, whether through shared
   insights, WooCommerce specific enhancements, or other ways to support the ecosystem.
   At the same time, we’ll continue maintaining our plugin to ensure it meets our
   clients’ needs and remains a key part of our portfolio.
 * Thanks again for sparking this conversation and encouraging us to think bigger
   it’s definitely got us considering new possibilities!
 * Thanks,
 * Johnny McKinney

 * Glad to see you are now listed among the developers of the official plugin.

 * Thanks, SK!
 * Yes, we have recently started contributing directly to the official Mautic WordPress
   plugin and are currently handling the latest release. Our current aim is to help
   modernize and strengthen the plugin while continuing to maintain our own version
   for clients who need specific features. Some features from our version may eventually
   make it’s way to the official plugin, but for now we’re concentrating on key
   updates and overhauls, as it’s been quite some time since the last release.
 * If you’re interested in following along with the work, you can see progress and
   plans here:
   [https://github.com/orgs/mautic/projects/26](https://github.com/orgs/mautic/projects/26)
 * We’re also looking for testers to try new updates and share feedback, it’s a
   huge help in making sure the plugin works well for different setups.
 * It’s been great to collaborate more closely with the Mautic community, and we’re
   optimistic about what we can accomplish together.
 * Appreciate your encouragement, it definitely played a huge part in making this
   happen.

 * Thanks for the git link.
 * Quick question: For a WooCommerce install, would you recommend installing both
   Mautic official and Sync Mautic or just Sync Mautic?

 * You’re welcome.
 * Sync Mautic doesn’t add the Mautic tracking code, so if you want to use tracking
   you’ll need to use Mautic’s official plugin or manually add the script.
 * If there’s ever any tracking functionality that doesn’t make it to the official
   Mautic plugin, Sync Mautic will more than likely require the official plugin
   to prevent conflicts. We’ve considered adding tracking for WooCommerce orders
   to Sync Mautic, but we haven’t locked in the details yet. We might just build
   a plugin for Mautic itself to pull in eCommerce data.
 * Sync Mautic is meant primarily to Sync information from WordPress / WooCommerce
   into Mautic, the only overlap I can really think of is the form shortcode, but
   it was needed so layout adjustments were easier.
