Whitespace under logo div in The Morning After

I am using The Morning after theme v3.2.4 (downloaded from wp.com, not current version). I have inserted a logo manually within the logo div in the header.php file. For some reason there is extra whitespace under the bottom of the logo image (looks like about 1 em). The inspector shows this as being within the <a> but not within <img>. It doesn’t look too bad right now but I have a larger logo I want to change to that makes the extra space more noticeable. I am willing to update the theme IF that is absolutely necessary (looks like this may have been fixed in 3.3.0). Site is http://thelightningrod.net…look with your HTML source inspector.
