WHy is the page loaded white?

I have had this site for years.

I just uploaded a few entries less than a week ago … I got an error edit that comments were not available … I wassn’t doing anything with comments … never have … so I ignored the error and “wrote” an entry each day for three days …

    … and now … BLANK page …

I can see all of the entries (hundreds and hundreds of them) in the Admin section … but unfortunately no one can see the web site … I did NOTHING different from what I have been doing for the past 3 years … it was fine for a couple days and then just randomoly … without me doing ANYTHING … wsithout warning … it went blank ….

Does anyone know why it did this? Any ideas on how I can fix it?

I get wordpres thru my ISP Yahoo but they say they cant help …

  • What version of WordPress are you using?

It happened to me to and am waiting for help and advice.

I am using the next to the latest version. As a matter of fact, my troubles coincided with my attempt to install the latest version through wordpress automatically, which also coincided with my domain expiring. All at once. How do you reconnect a database to a blog if it not connected any longer because of domain expiration?

Hmmm if the updates happen automatically … that coulda been the reason for me too? How do I determine the version I have?

The updates are not “automatic” in terms of them happening without you asking for them to happen. I had clicked the automatic upgrade button within my wordpress blog and it failed, for some reason. Right after that I noticed the expired domain notice, then renewed the domain, then waited a few days, and still the white page.

SO now I am thinking it was the attempt to upgrade to 2.8! What is a girl to do?

I have two WordPress pages …

OK … Twainy is fine …but I have not updated it in 4 months … the one I updated last week (Domko) is the page that is blank.

When I update to a new version does each site have to update?

How does one revert back to 2.7.1?

    Could theree be a version

This is the error I had gotten when I went to upload an entry recently … it had been a couple months since I had updtd this site … and like I said I dont pay atttention to the comments … so I ignored the error and uploaded entries, 3 days in a row … all of the entries are there in the DB … the website is just blank … totalllly upsetting … is there help?

WordPress database error: [Can’t open file: ‘wp_comments.MYI’ (errno: 144)]
    SELECT COUNT(*) FROM wp_comments WHERE comment_approved = ‘0’

WordPress database error: [Can’t open file: ‘wp_comments.MYI’ (errno: 144)]
    SELECT COUNT(comment_ID) FROM wp_comments WHERE comment_approved = ‘spam’

mondolizzie – did you figure it out? Do youhave WordPress thru your Yahoo ISP?

It seems like we’re having a similar problem. Our homepage shows our comic of the day, however, clicking the Previous or First links back to previous comics shows blank pages where there should be comics. We can upload without error though.

The issue arose when we did the 2.8 update last night. Admin page looks normal, disabling all plugins didn’t help, re-updating to 2.8 didn’t help either.

All of our comic images are still stored in the ComicPress manager but for some reason aren’t appearing online as they used to.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

When editing and creating new posts, my words are white and the only way for me to see it is to highlight the entire post. Any ideas how to fix?

I followed these instructions and reverted the site back to 2.7.1.

I am now back online! Yahooo! No 2.8 for me!

For the issue of having white pages on old blog posts: Try enabling the storyline structure that is in the CP tab on admin panel. I’m not sure if you are using Comic Press in conjunction with WP or not, if so, this might do the trick.

This was a suggestion I found in the Comic Press forum that worked for us.
    Good Luck,

OK unless yahoo automatically upgraded me to 2.8 without my knowledge … I didn’t get an upgrade … and if Yaboo did do that … won’t it upgrade without asking me again?

If this is a known problem … where is the autonatic upgrade solution? LOL

This looks complicated … now I am super worried about losing info that I haven’t lost yet …

UGH … is there an easier fix to this mess? One that doesn’t revolve around >> WARNING WARNING you could possibly lose all of your 956 posts and images ….

    Blog type: WordPress
    Version: 2.0.2
    Upgrade: Automatic

OK … the page is still white … this is not anything I did.

    Still … any other ideas?

I have a Word Press blog using Comic Press.
    1. I see two of every text post I make.
    1. I see two of every text post I make. (example)
    2. I cannot upload my comic strip Week two. Week One worked fine, Week Two is identical (except for content).
