White Screen on Admin Page–novice blogger requests assitance

    Hello,

    I was upgraded automatically to Version 3.9.2 of WordPress about 4 hours ago. When I went to log into my blog to make some updates, I noticed that none of my administrative functions were working. Even though the page itself is up and running, and the administrative toolbar scrolls over the top, I get nothing but a white screen no matter what wp-admin related link I click on.

    I am not a web designer and know little about coding. Any assistance someone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Try manually resetting your plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    If neither of those work, try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

    I apologize in advance, but I am not clear as to how this is possible without access to the wp-admin pages. I don’t have physical copies of my files on my computer, and looking at the source page for the site.

    You’ll need to follow the guides I linked to, none of them require wp-admin access. 🙂
