    Hey all,

So I attempted to add code into functions.php. When I did, the screen went white/blank. Now the website appears blank and the www.(my site).com/wp-admin also appears blank and white.

I know the code I entered into functions is probably the culprit as it happened right when I updated that. I would like to remove the code and bring the website back to where it was. Problem being, I don’t know how to access that functions page now that I can’t access the wp-login dashboard.

Anyone know where I can simply delete that code? Is it through my domain host?

    Thank you!

    -Andrew

try to use the file management system of your hoster to access the functions.php file.

If you use an FTP tool (e.g. FileZilla), you can copy the file over to your computer, edit it, then copy back the file.

Otherwise, if your host offer Cpanel, you can edit the files through the cpanel interface.

    Thank you Alchymyth and Sandra.

We have a previous version of the website saved. Do you think it would be easier to uninstall wordpress from the host, then reinstall and upload website?

Not likely easier – you could simply replace the messed up copy of the functions.php file with a new copy of it (from your backup or a fresh download of your theme). Doing so via FTP should not be that difficult.

Agree ftp and copy over a new functions file would be your best best.. if you install a backup wordpress, you will lose all change made since, but if you just copy over the functions, you just have to make the adjustments for that file.
