White pages only – Can not access admin page

  • I edited the functions.php (wrongly by accident) and now the whole site will not load, it comes up with a blank page. I can not even reach the admin page to fix this, what should I do?

Try switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

How do I know which file management application my host provides?

I attempted to use FTP – FileZilla however I got an error:

    Response: 530 Login authentication failed
    Error: Critical error
Error: Could not connect to server

The username and password I have typed in is correct however I get this error each time.

Just ask them. They should also be able to help you with your FTP login details.

If I’m not mistaken, Godaddy is the hosting provider. What plan are you on with them? Depending on your plan, you might be using their custom control panel or (if you’re lucky) if you have deluxe cpanel plan you’ll have this inside cpanel, including file manager.
