Hello! I am not sure if this relates at all to your fabulous plugin, but I thought I would try asking. I have used and appreciated your plugin for at least a year. My site functions fine except, starting yesterday, any page where there are lists of categories or tags, such as example.com/category… or example.com/tag/… these are now white screen or blank. Switching themes resolves the problem, yet my theme didn’t change, I only did an update to Autoptimize. The theme is Genesis Sample and because it’s a child theme, it hasn’t changed for several years. Do you happen to have any ideas?

First and foremost try to identify what is breaking things by just disabling CSS or JS or HTML or Image optimization (incl. lazyload). Based on that we can see what the next steps need to be 🙂

Thank you for asking, and sorry for not returning with news.

I don’t think my problem had anything to do with Autoptimize. I still don’t know why the white screens happened, but it was resolved when I added a new category archive page in the child theme. No idea why it needed that, but it worked!

Since the same time, I have had an issue with random 404 pages on existing pages on the site that are resolved only by clearing Cloudflare cache. They’re inconsistent and only occasional, but I see them and so do visitors. I had been clearing Autoptimize cache because it was filling up every two days until I read it wasn’t a good idea, so I thought maybe that was the culprit. To fix that, I followed instructions from your support pages and it no longer fills up. But even after clearing all site caches, this 404 error has continued sporadically. It likely isn’t an Autoptimize problem, but thought I would ask in case…would 404’s happen on an existing html page if Autoptimize cache had been cleared frequently in the past? Even after clearing other site caches?

no, don’t see how AO would cause 404 on existing pages I’m afraid :-/

Thank you so much. This helps because I can stop investigating this angle. Thank you again for your plugin and attentiveness.
