[Resolved] White bars above and below every page

  • Hello,

    I am running the SWIX theme from EPICTHEMES on my WordPress site, and for some time now I have not been able to remove a white bar above the header and another below the footer.

    The problem occurs when I am logged in and logged out, and when I use Firefox to inspect the element in 3D, it appears that the box sits behind the page content: http://www.nathanfield.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/SwixWhiteBar_Firefox3D.tiff

    I am not terribly familiar with css or php, but I can follow instructions! You can see my issue here: http://www.nathanfield.com.au. The white bar in question is above the black line at the top (which I also don’t know its origin) , and below the grey footer.

    I look forward to your help1

  • These rules added to the end of custom.css should remove the white space and the black bar at the top:

    #fb-root { margin: 0; }
    .light #topbar { display: none; }

    I did not see a grey footer.

    Thanks very much vtxyzzy, doing that along with changing

    .epic_sharing{width:100%; clear: both; margin:20px 0;}
    to be
    .epic_sharing{width:100%; clear: both; margin:0px 0;}
    fixed my problem.

    The issue with the footer may have been that the footer was not ‘clinging’ to the bottom of the screen but instead to the bottom of the page content. In any case, I have changed it to be a transparent footer bar, as the 100% width footer looked silly on a 27″ screen.

    Thanks a bunch.
