[resolved] which wp core code or plugins could edit .htaccess? (4 posts)

Our root .htaccess file is standard WordPress rewrite, with the exception of an additional rewrite we do for another application on our server. Over the last few months, the .htaccess gets edited back every few weeks to the basic WordPress format, stripping these additional lines. (This happens without any updates we are doing to core code or plugins.) I'm trying to figure out what it could be in the WP core code or one of our plugins that erroneously edits our root .htaccess file; ideas sure welcome.

With your rules in place, change file permissions...

Then work with your host to log what is accessing this file...

@doctorproctor: change permissions to 444 and check for cron jobs on your server and WP plugins that run on a schedule.

Thanks, both. Permissions were set to 664, with www-data as owner and admin as group, so it must be something emanating from WP that was doing it.
