    Hey Peter

Usually the page is listed as “home” in your header navigation, and is simply located at the root of your domain. It won’t actually show up on your “edit pages” screen.

Unless of course you changed it somewhere along the line on the Settings>>Readings page. Check there to see what your “Post Page” is set to be. If you changed it to a “static page” at some point and then deleted it, that might be the problem.

    Good luck!

I would also recommend quickly checking your web hosting service to see if you can access a backup of your site made before you deleted the page. Most provided you with access through cPanel or their equivalent hosting management tools. A few force you to contact their Support folks to obtain the backup for you.

If you download the backup to your own workstation, you should be able to find the page and more easily re-create it.

I said “quickly” at the outset because most web hosts only keep the most recent backup, which could be as recently as overnight.

@LynnandChad: I had changed my default posts page a while back.posts page was listed as ” – select – “. Problem solved.
@adiant: thank you for the suggestion. When I said that I ‘deleted’ the page I didn’t actually delete any posts or anything of value, I simply removed the wordpress structure that stuck posts onto a webpage
