This is just more of a curiosity question, i don’t know, that’s why i ask.
Plugin works fantastic, Mr. Erickson
Yoast’s schema is better for a few reasons:
1. It uses JSON-LD rather than the microdata Genesis uses. Google prefers the JSON-LD approach, but it wasn’t around when Genesis first implemented its schema.
2.Yoast’s schema is integrated rather than fragmented (more information).
3. Yoast’s is built to be extended by other plugins, so hopefully over time it will become even more rich as your other plugins leverage it. For instance, if you have a recipe plugin, rather than it outputting its own disconnected recipe schema, it could integrate its schema into Yoast’s article schema, indicating that the recipe is part of the article.
There are plans to improve the schema in Genesis to become more like Yoast’s, but it will be a few months at the earliest. For now I recommend you use Yoast schema.
The only exception is if you have already hired someone to extensively extend the Genesis schema to your particular needs. In that case, I would recommend you keep using Genesis schema and disable Yoast schema instead.
