Which files to edit?

  • I’ve just installed WordPress at SimplyHosting.net. They provide an automatic install. Then I FTPed the complete install to my system so I can edit where necessary.

I want to edit the sidebar. The WordPress section Customizing Sidebar has instructions on how to do this. Unfortunately I look and look and can not find which file to edit to change the content of the sidebar. in WP-admin there is sidebar.php. This seems to control the content and does not have the content of the sidebar.

Which files do I edit to customize the sidebar?

  • It’s sidebar.php in most themes (including default).
What theme are you using? From where?

Thank you for your responce. At this point I can’t even get in to find out which Theme was placed on my blog. It automatically showed up. I once saw the theme name when I could get in and look at such stuff.

Now it won’t accept my username and my password. I tried to get another password and the system doesn’t recognize my username or email address.

    Should I register again?

I tried to reregister using Batdorff as the username. It tells me that this name is taken. When I tried to login and it says I don’t have the correct password I try to get a new password. Then WordPress tells me there is no user by the name of Batdorff.

    What could be wrong?
