  • Resolved Claudia

    I’m working on a Child Theme, and I’m a bit new at customizing Child Themes. I made it work and I’m starting to make the first changes.

    However it seems that though I make the changes on the style.css on the Child Theme, the theme still picks up SOME of the settings on the Parent Theme CSS file, even if I changed those particular settings on the Child Theme.

    How to make it pick up the changes from the Child Theme CSS file then?

    Thank you!

    I’m not sure that your child theme is set up properly. In your child theme you should have the import call that imports the parent theme.

    Right now in your HTML source I can see this:

    <link rel="stylesheet" href=" 14th of February 2013 08:49:32 PM" media="screen" type="text/css" />
    <link rel="stylesheet" href=" 14th of February 2013 08:49:32 PM" media="all" type="text/css" />

    I don’t know why there are 2 and why there are dates attached to these.

    Hello Christine, thank you for your answer!

    Well, I read somewhere that I didn’t have to import the styles and as I deleted that line from the CSS file and nothing bad happened, I thought that what I read was right.

    Anyway I’ll change that, but I have no idea why the dates are attached either.

    In order to make the child theme work properly, what do I have to do?

    – create the css file with all the required info;
    – name that file style.css;
    – upload that to the database folder named after the Child Theme;
    – activate the new theme.

    Is this all or is there a step I missed?

    I would really appreciate some help here.

    Thank you!

    Is this what you are following?

    Where did you get that theme from?

    Yes, I followed those instructions and I got my theme from here

    Have you asked them for help?

    These forums only support themes downloaded from the repository on this site – so for theme-specific questions/problems, they’d be the ones to go to.

    i didn’t know that this was specifically to the themes downloaded from this database. sorry for that!

    but thank you for your help anyway!
