Big Relief. Just imported a larger older site with about 1,180 articles. All came over including all images and attachments.
I installed Jetpack to insure a similar environment and matched WP.com permalinks to reduce confusion - they're also better for SEO.
So far the only bugs are:
- the import gives 0 feedback and does not refresh when done. Thus you cannot tell when it is safe to use other admin tools
- the in-post images lost their text wrap settings. So they take up a bar of space. Not huge for me.
- all the links inside posts to other posts are still pointing back at the old site. It means I have to maintain the WP.com referral service indefinitely. Thats a disappointment but modest cost.
Considering the many horror stories I've heard, I'm very happy to see it all OK and functional.
Considering the ability to migrate from site to site is one of WP's selling points, I'm surprised they have not polished this more.
