Where to start?

I am in the planning stages of my site/business. My intent is to build a small, niche site selling house music vinyl records. It will be e-commerce, on a small scale. I need something simple, yet effective. I would like to have samples of audio as well as artwork for the record. And also a shopping cart integrated with Palpal. I have read through the new user material, but nothing mentions what I need specifically. Not sure which theme (StoreFront?), plug ins will be required. Google search overloads me. I’m familiar with Linux, so syntax/code/text is something I am familiar with. Any suggestions to a site that specific to WP e-commerce?
