I am wondering whether I installed WP correctly: My site is going to be a combined blog under /blog and static pages under the root. I would like to use WP to create the entire site, using its blog features under the blog directory and its ability to create static pages elsewhere. So I am wondering if it’s fine for the installation to be under /blog (where it’s most logical for it to be, in my view) or whether this complicates things and it should better be under the root (even though the blog is not going to be residing in that directory).

    Thanks in advance!

  • I think your installation is fine, but you have to do some tweaking to get the integration of your static(?) site and your blog to work in a seamless way.
An attempt to describe one way of doing this can be found at Jonathan Wold

so far the combination is working well for me, especialy since if you bugger something up in the blog, typically, the static site is not affected

ps. once my blog http://www.pixelplexus.co.za/blog was up and running i did a view source from a browser to hijack the source code and modify it for the same look and feel in static html
