Where to find 'wp_footer' ?

  • Hi,
    I’m using for a new site the skeleton theme. In its footer.php it says this:

    <?php st_before_footer();?>

    <?php wp_footer();?>

    <?php st_after_footer();?>
    </body>
    </html>

    I would like to know where I can find wp_footer and change it, because I want add a div tag on the top of the footer.

    thanks

    Those are functions – probably not what you are looking for. If you are just adding HTML to the footer, you can do that right in the footer.php file. But modifications to any theme files should always be made in a child theme — so that your changes are not overwritten when the theme is updated.

    Hi Serkan:

    I’d probably check out the functions.php file in your theme. (I’d bet the footer stuff starts there)

    Sounds scary to me, so I’d back up EVERYTHING before trying this 🙂

    Good luck

    I’m with WPyogi here…a child theme would be VERY GOOD for this kind of mod.

    Thanks for your replies.

    I will try to create a child theme, but if I’m honest, I don’t know how to do that.

    The instructions in the linked page are pretty straightforward – lots of people have started where you are and learned how to do it :).
