    Hello everyone!

Please be patient with me if this question sounds stupid, but I'm new in the website business and I really don't know much about PHP, MySQL ect. However, this is not my problem, its:

1.) I have Microsoft WebMatrix installed, on it I have WordPress running, for the purpose of experimenting.

2.) when I try to upload a file, larger than 2MB, I get this error:

The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.

3.) I've searched around Google and people keep saying that I need to edit my php.ini file and some htaccess or something. WHERE ON EARTH ARE THESE FILES LOCAETD?! I am going crazy here!

Here's an image of what I see

php.ini is a php configuration file that can be found in the directory where webmatrix installed PHP on your computer. It is not part of WordPress. Once you find and change the settings you're after, you may need to restart the web server for the changes to take effect.

I cant find the php.ini file anywhere, not even in the webmatrix instalation directory, not in the directory for my website! My website directory is C:\Users\my username\My Web Sites\ and there is no sign of any php.ini file!

Take a look in your programs directory and see if you find anything that looks like this: C:\Program Files\IIS Express\PHP\v5.x\php.ini

The "x" simply represents whatever version of PHP was installed. I'm not 100% positive, but I think that's where webmatrix installs it's PHP pacakge.

[edit] if it's not there, perhaps the quickest way to find it on your local machine would be to open the search dialog and search for php.ini.
That should reveal the complete path for you.

it should be in your php directory. (search for php folder). Windows by default hides system files. A *.ini file might be considered system and not show up in Windows Explorer...

so go into the php folder using a command prompt window and enter
    notepad.exe .\php.ini

Using a phpinfo file should tell you the path to the .ini file.

If you are not familiar with php it may then be advised to use great care in editing your php.ini file.

Using the phpinfo file I managed to find the php.ini file, it's location is :

    C:\Program Files\IIS Express\PHP\v5.2\php.ini

Thank you very much for this information, problem solved!
