  • I’m trying to import an xml file from an old blog to my new one but I keep getting the error;

    “The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.”

    Where do I locate this php.ini file? Which directory is it supposed to be in?

    This is becoming my favorite answer for the day.

    Create a file phpinfo.php file and upload it to your blog:

    Load that file via http://your-blog-info/phpinfo.php and search for php.ini. That should tell you the path on your host to your php.ini file.

    On my Ubuntu box it comes up as being in /etc/php5/apache2 but your mileage may vary.

    Please note: Just because you know where the php.ini file is located on a server does NOT mean that your host will allow you access to it. You can contact them to ask about access. You may be able to put some things in .htaccess, if your host allows you to override those php.ini commands.

    That’s interesting… I’m havin’ the same problem…. however, my file is only 1.64mb – so I don’t understand why I keep getting that error message!
