    Hi Donna,

This forum is about the Online Backup for WordPress plugin, not the BackupBuddy plugin. So I cannot help you with that plugin.

I worded the question badly. Let me try again. I installed this online backup for wordpress on our rixx lotion website a while back based on a recommendation from my online marketing trainer (sandy krokowski).

Our rixx lotion website is hosted with godaddy and all the files and databases are saved daily there. But to get a restore if needed it costs $150.

My question is about this Online backup for wordpress. Where do I find the files which are backed up by online backup for wordpress if I need to do a restore of our website if something goes wrong?

My 2nd question is the one I was trying to ask above: the website says in the dashboard that on June 23 the backup was 4.1, but the whole website is 50.1 MiB so was the whole website backed up, or just new information?

Thanks for the quick feedback. Please note, I am obviously note a geek, so help me with language as best you can. I hope I am getting the intent across of the goal – to get a new plug in installed, but a backup must be identified first.
    Thanks very much,
    Donna

    Hi Donna,

I understand it now. If you backup to our online vault, the data can be accessed in the same place you registered with us, https://wordpress.backup-technology.com/
You just login and click Backups on the left and you will see your blogs. Click one and you can browse your data, or, at the bottom, generate a “snapshot” – this just makes a ZIP file of your blog as it looked at the chosen moment in time.

When it says the backup was 4.1 MiB, you are correct, it means only 4.1 MiB was backed up because that’s all that was changed. Click Activity Log you will see extra information. It will say Backup Size (4.1 MiB) and will also say Total Size (probably 50.1 MiB) which means how much it looked at.

    Hope this helps!

    Jason.

    Thanks Jason,
I have two more important questions. Since we have the free backup of 100 MiB and our backup says we are using 294 MiB, how is this possible?

Is everything available to restore the website (database and files) with the use of my encription code if anything goes wrong?

Secondly, is there something I need to do to change up our backup space so that we are complying with the rules so we are fitting into the 100 MiB or removing old backups so that we are not over the useage space?

I would love to have our website guy continue with the project of installing a plug in, but he is not secure that we have a restore back up available in the case of the 1% of times that something goes wrong.

    In appreciation.

    Hi Donna,

Yes, the backups are available to download any time by using your encryption details.

Do not worry about the quota. If your blog is gradually growing it can sometimes result in more space used than we give quota, since we do not currently strictly enforce it. If we did begin to strictly enforce it and it were to affect you we would let you know via email in advanced. However, at 294MB we would simply increase your quota before we enforced it, so you likely wouldn’t get notified as we’d make it so such account weren’t affected.

    Hi again Jason,
I appreciate the above information about the quota.

What the website guy is still concerned about is whether the whole website both files and database is backed up and can be accessed.

So I tried it, and it said my encryption key is not right. However, that is the combination of letters and numbers which I wrote down when we set it up. (and it is the standard one suggested).

So, on 2 counts, there is a question if the backup system is working. Any suggestions?

    Hi Donna,

The whole WordPress installation, both files and database, will be backed up. That is correct.

You’ll need to ensure that the encryption key you are providing is EXACTLY the same as the one the plugin is configured to use. You can show the encryption key in the plugin if you go to General Settings. You can then check it is being entered correctly when decrypting.

    Regards,

    Jason
