  • Hi there,

Can you share a link to your site? The theme editor is a core WordPress feature, not something that’s controlled by the theme, so if you need help with that it will be better to post in the general support forums, rather than the forum for a specific theme.

The best way to change CSS is in the Customizer, rather than editing your theme’s style.css file directly. In WP-Admin, go to Appearance ->Customize, and click on Additional CSS. Any CSS you add there will override the CSS in your theme’s CSS files.

    Appearance Customize Screen

To edit your theme’s HTML you’ll actually have to edit the PHP files where that HTML is coming from. You can find the editor to do that at Appearance ->Theme Editor:

    Editing Files

However, it’s not recommended to make changes there. Making a mistake in the code there can cause your entire site to break, and any changes made there would also be overwritten the next time the theme updates. So if you want to make those types of changes to your theme, the recommended method is to create a child theme instead:

    https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/advanced-topics/child-themes/

We’re not able to help with PHP customizations or child theming in this forum, but if you need help with CSS to make some changes to your site we’re happy to take a look.

Hi Kokkieh and thank you very much for your help !
I understand when you said that it’s better to post in general support forum but the problem is that I have severals websites and I have the problem only with which used SELA theme. Because I have Appearance and then Customize, but I don’t have “Additional CSS” ….and neither “theme editor”…..My wordpress is update….I really don’t understand.
The url of the website is http://www.programmebienetre.fr
    Thank you in advance !

I think the fact that you’re using Sela on the site is just a coincidence – on a test site with the Sela activated I see all the options in the Appearance menu that should be there:

    Jetpack My Core Sandbox WordPress

The “Edit CSS” option is added by Jetpack, and as you don’t have Jetpack on your site you won’t see that one.

But the “Additional CSS” option is in the Customizer itself, not in the Appearance menu, and is part of WordPress, so you should be seeing that.

If you don’t see those options on your site, then something else might be removing them.

First, are you sure the account you’re using to access WP-Admin has an admin role? If it’s an editor role, all options might not be available to you.

Otherwise a plugin on your site might be disabling those options for some reason. The best way to confirm that is to disable all plugins and see if the missing options reappear. Then you can re-enable the plugins one at a time until they options disappear again, to determine which one is the cause.
