• Hello,

I am trying to paste a bit of code in to the footer of my page to get a widget to work. The problem is I cant find the editor.
I managed to do it previously when using version wordpress 3.52 and the last version of Customizr theme.
Since then my site was hacked so i am rebuilding it again.
The info states i need to paste this particular piece of code at the bottom of my web page that i want the widget but the editor isn’t in the appearance bit like before and i can’t see it anywhere.

I should say i am a novice and don’t understand complicated computer talk so please bear that in mind.

Thanks for any help in advance

  • Sounds like you need a clean install. If your site was hacked, you need to know that the code you have is good—and the only way to do that is to replace it all.

    Hi ElectricFeet,

I deleted the old site i built and updated wordpress before starting again. Is this what you mean by a clean install?

    Also reinstall Customizr.

I did this as well i think. When i reinstalled WordPress the only themes i had were the ones that came with WordPress (twenty twelve & thirteen). So i had to re-install Customizr. Do i need to un install it again? And if so do i have to re build the site again. I have been backing up this time but i haven’t got a clue how the backing up actually works and how to use a backed up site again.

    thanks

Re-reading your post, I think you are not looking for the Appearance>Editor (that allows you to edit code in your theme), but you are looking for the Appearance>Widgets Editor.

If so, click Appearance, then Widgets, then open Footer Widget Area One (for example) and drag a text widget into it. Open the text widget and edit.

I was looking for the appearance>editor but i tried the Footer widget area idea and it worked. However i uninstalled again and reinstalled everything and noticed that the Appearance>editor is there, but since i was hacked someone else previously suggested i use the Better-WP plugin as security and when reinstalling this it made the Appearance>editor disappear. But the main thing is I know that the way to get what i need is to put it in the Footer widget.

    Thanks
