This issue accrue because the WordPress URL and the Site Address are two different URLs (notice one has www. and the other doesn’t).
You need to set under Settings > General Settings
Rajan V,
Sorry, that can’t be the reason, because both those URLs are exactly the same = http://hollandnumerics.org.uk/wordpress
I’m not looking for a reason. I just want to update the form to match my settings. However, it would be better though if the form reflected my settings.
Note that I’ve already updated the login form in my theme (LeftSide).

I removed Rajan’s post because I think he was replying to something else. 🙂 There’s nothing in your message that would have led to his response. Anyhow….
Where did you set the option to accept only usernames?
My apologies, Rajan. Unarchiving your post. Maybe once we know HOW Phil set that option, we can figure this out.
The restriction is specified in WPUM Settings, although I also use Simple WordPress Membership.

FYI I have no problems with expired sessions, other than the form doesn’t reflect my settings.
I recommend asking at https://wordpress.org/support/topic/read-first-where-to-get-support so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.
