First of all I’m not sure what version of wordpress i have, where do i find that?
My problem is that I do not have PLUGIN as a menu option. I’m trying to add in some embed code for flash video and it just absolutely won’t work. I’m thinking it has something to do with this, but I can’t add any plugins because I don’t even have that directory. Anyone know anything about this or how I can get it on there?

Log in and look at the bottom of every page.

As for the plugin issue: Is this a version of WordPress that you installed and host on your own server? Or are you hosted somewhere else? If somewhere else, where?

i just started this blog a few months ago by going to wordpress.com and starting one. I haven’t done anything else.. my blog is http://www.mediainnovationsblog.com
I’ve talked to some people that have that plugin option and their code for flash video works just fine. I have no idea whats going on.

blogs hosted at wordpress.com dont get to install custom plugins.

furthermore, they also have their own support forum located here:
