Where is my .sql or data base

    This is my first go at making my web site. I am using instant wordpress. I have my site uploaded to my web host (hostgator). But I can’t seem to find the .sql/database file for the site. Where can I find this? I try the phpmysql but there is nothing there.

    That would probably be a question for the hosting company, but if you have cPanel, there should be a menu item/ico for the database area.

    If you have cPanel try to find PhpMyAdmin and create a database there to be used with your wordpress installation.

    Some hosting companies with instant wordpress installations have the database creation included in the setup. If not then use PhpMyAdmin.
