[Resolved] Where does plug in folder belong?

  • I was having a problem on my site where it would give a 500 error. Contacted hostmonster who said is was a problem with a plug-in. Mind you, everything had been working fine after I did a few updates to plug-ins, and then the next day the whole site just wouldn’t come up.

So the support guy said he moved the plug-in folder (didn’t tell me where to, or which one of the specific plug-ins was causing the problem). Site then came up, and I thought it was resolved. Went to check plug ins, and they were all gone. Fine, figured that might happen, went to re-install, and now the installer won’t work because it says it can’t create the directory.

He said he moved the plug in folder back where it belongs. It is currently in wp-contents, and is called plugins.bak. I can see all of the plug-in files in that folder, with the updated versions, so I think it’s there but the files are in the wrong place.

Is this where the file belongs? I don’t know what he actually did, only what he told me. Any help is appreciated!

  • Found the answer – they added the .bak extension so I removed it, and it works.

    Thanks anyway!
