    Hi,
I must be missing something simple, but in WooCommerce 3.5.3 to change a specific product’s category and tag, I can’t find it. All the documentation (from 2017) shows that the category and tag for the specific product are on the right side under the Publish button. On my WordPress 5.0.3 and WooCommerce 3.5.3 it isn’t in that location and I can’t find it anywhere in the product options.
    Thanks for your help.

It sounds like Product Categories and Product Tags boxes are disabled on the product page on your site. You can enable them back by clicking on the Screen Options section in the top right corner of the product page as shown below:

Thanks for getting back to me, but that isn’t quite my issue.

I can see the category in the list, (it isn’t hidden) but how do I now change the category for that product?

When I open the product, there isn’t the product field on the right side.

    Thanks Again for your help.

    Hi @max3322,

Thanks for your follow-up email! I am happy to help you further.

I think we are misunderstanding each other. Have you tried to enable the categories and tags sections on the product’s page as shown on the screenshot I sent in my previous reply? https://cloudup.com/cyX0UBboE_3.

If so, can you please send a screenshot of what you see and also showing that categories and tags sections are enabled as shown on my screenshot?

Thank you and looking forward to your reply!

    Thanks,
    Yes, they were already enabled.
    Here are my two screenshots.

    https://app.box.com/s/ejw8mjc8bvv9mjsg0vtz29m4ypxd3f7c
Categories1.jpg Shows the check boxes checked like you suggested.
Categories2.jpg shows the product when I edit it and don’t see where I can change the categories.
I was just able to find that if I bulk edit products I can add a category to the product, but it only adds and doesn’t let me remove the current category.

Just figured part of it out. When I click Edit Product, the categories and tags areas are not shown. But if I click Quick Edit, it does show the categories and tags areas. I added screenshot Categories3.jpg in the above folder so you can see. I can edit the part I want to in the quick edit, but shouldn’t categories be available in Edit as well?
    Thanks

    Hi @max3322,

I just took a look at your screenshots and it’s weird that you have the Blocks editor loaded for products as that editor currently only affects pages and posts. You must have a plugin on your site that is causing that to happen.

When I edit a product on my site, this is what the screen looks like – http://cld.wthms.co/mkHLhn

As such, I’m inclined to think that this issue is caused by either a conflict with your theme or with another plugin.

The best way to determine this is to:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Repeat the action that is causing the problem

If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

Thanks, yes it turned out that the Optimize Press Plug in was doing this. I need to continue to use the plugin, so I’ll use the workaround I found and let their support know this is an issue.
Thanks again and I’ll close this case.
    Cheers

Sorry to add to this case, but I want to ask: Is it harmful to use the Blocks editor for adding products? I haven’t figured out what is causing MY editor to pop up for products, but I quite like it (aside from the category-setting issue that Max described).

    Thank you!
