 * Hello all
 * I invested tons of time into my blog and got it all running sweet – then I decided
I wanted to move it the root of my hosting.
 * Did all that and now its all running like a one legged do with herpes!
 * Here are some of the issues I have …
 * 1. None of the templates will preview (not even the default ones)
    2. Images
look like they have been through a mincer 3. Dashboard looks pants
 * All in all I am having a nightmare and thinking of paying for Typepad!
 * I try upgrading via the dashboard upgrade – this works ok but doesnt fix any
   of the issues.
 * I have even gone so far as to move the whole shebang to another hosting company–
re-installing it all and changing the DNS on my domains to make it live – still
   the same crap there.
 * So I put it all back on a fresh hosting account on my own server – and still
   its playing up!
 * I am even prepared to give you guys the password to the account so you can see
I am not making this up.
 * PLEASE HELP – IF I HAD HAIR I WOULD BE PULLING IT OUT BY NOW!
 * THanks in advance – Ray

 * So much for WordPress being a good Opensource community.
 * 24 hours on and I am STILL no nearer to getting this sorted!
 * I have done ALL of the following …
 * 1. Deleted my domain from my server
    2. Had the hosting company clean down all
the files and folders 3. Left it 24 hours 4. created a new DB 5. Completely reinstalled
Wp 2.7.1 fresh 6. ran install.php 7. entered the details to create config.php
 * then it fell over …
 * [http://www.raymondstclair.com/wp-admin/install.php?step=2](http://www.raymondstclair.com/wp-admin/install.php?step=2)
 * and I get a message about WP already being installed – utter crap – I did it
CLEAN even from installing the domain on the server and its saying it was installed
   before.
 * If no-onwe here can offer some help then its time to move on and put WordPress
down as a dogpile of rubbish! I’ll make sure I blog about it when I get my blog
   up and running again.

 * It looks like you have a partial install. If you look at your root address you
will see “part” of a WP install.

 * Here is what I would recommend. Install WP in a subdirectory and see if you have
better success. For step-by-step directions, see the following video. If you
don’t have Cpanel, then just do the file transfers using an FTP client.

 * Here’s what *I* would recommend – check the attitude or go play with TypePad.
Everyone here is a volunteer and is not at your beck and call. You have no clue
what you’re doing, so WP is a pile of crap? How about reading the damned Codex
and following the FAQ on moving your URL. maybe if you did you wouldn’t have
made such a cockup of your install.

 * Gonna’ take down the entire WP empire yourself, huh? Go ahead, feel free to blog
   about it.

 * YOU decided to move your correctly functioning WP install the INCORRECT way (
one should always find out how to do something properly BEFORE they do it) and
somehow this is the fault of WP? Come on now. Put on your big boy (or girl) pants
and lay the blame where it belongs… on YOURSELF.

 * You never really say what kind of problem you’re having, you just make crap statements
like: “running like a one legged do with herpes! (what’s a “do” BTW?)” and “then
it fell over”. What does “then it fell over” mean? We can’t help you if we don’t
know what kind of problems you’re having.
 * Lose the attitude. I’m so tired of people who come here and say WP is worthless
because THEY can’t get it running, especially when it WAS running fine until
THEY screwed it up. It’s not WP… it’s YOU. If it was WordPress it would run crappy
for EVERYONE and it doesn’t. Whatever the problem is could be fixed in minutes
by myself or many others here because we took the time to learn how to do things.
That’s all part of owning a website so you might as well step up to the plate
and start learning. Read, read, read!
 * Thank you for coming and have a nice day.
