On activation, Maxgalleria copies the file, single-maxgallery.php, to your current theme folder. MaxAblums does the same thing with single-maxalbum.php. But if you change your theme, these files may not get copied to the new theme folder. Also these files are removed when their plugins are deactivated.
You can manually copy these files to your theme folder.
When you add these files to your theme folder, it is often necessary to go to Settings->Permalinks and click the Save button to update the permalinks so they will uses these files.
If you want to include the bread crumbs, you can edit the files to correspond to your theme’s layout. But take care to make backups of your edited files in case they are replace when then plugin is updated.

I am confused
I followed your instructions. No album or gallery folder on my website. Then I deleted and reinstalled MaxGalleria and uploaded new images. Still no folders. Then I renamed the gallery folder to wp-gallery and repeated the whole process. Still no trace of a wp_gallery folder. In fact the breadcrumb still refers to Gallery.
So, where do you place the gallery and album folders?
http://www.thesen.org/gallery/gallery-name folder is not a folder. It is just a permalink generated by WordPress. The permalink tells WordPress to display to the page, single-maxgallery.php and passes the gallery ID to the page. Thus it shows your gallery.
“So, where do you place the gallery and album folders?” There are no gallery or album folders. It is just a link to a page that will display the contents of a particular gallery or album.
Have you tried adding your breadcrumb code to either single-maxgallery.php or single-maxalbum.php?

Thanks I suspected that. Dealing with a database rather than a file structure is a learning experience for me.
