    My host is lunarpages. My SQL is V4.0.15. My browser is IE. I uploaded all the files. Put in the wp-config.php details as follows:
    /** WordPress's config file **/
    /** http://wordpress.org/ **/
    // ** MySQL settings ** //
    define('DB_NAME', 't****_****'); // The name of the database
    define('DB_USER', 't****_**** '); // Your MySQL username
    define('DB_PASSWORD', '******'); // ...and password
    define('DB_HOST', 'localhost'); // 99% chance you won't need to change this value
    // Change the prefix if you want to have multiple blogs in a single database.
    $table_prefix = 'wp_'; // example: 'wp_' or 'b2' or 'mylogin_'
    /* Stop editing */
    $server = DB_HOST;
    $loginsql = DB_USER;
    $passsql = DB_PASSWORD;
    $base = DB_NAME;
    define('ABSPATH', dirname(__FILE__).'/');
    // Get everything else
    I want to link from my home page to the blog. I create the link to the index.php page. When I click the link I get the following message
    Error establishing a database connection! This probably means that the connection information in youn wp-config.php file is incorrect. Double check it and try again.
    Are you sure you have the correct user/password?
    Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    Are you sure that the database server is running?

    Possible problems?: Should I have an entry for 'localhost' on the wp-config.php file? Then I created the sql database my host logon password ie t**** was added to my chosen password and database name ie t****_MySQLusername and t****_databasename. Should I use this on the wp-confi.php file or just use the MySQLusername and database name without the t****? Also do I need to put t****_ infront of my MySQL password?

    Have you made sure that your user is a member of the database? This was my first mistake on my very first install of WP.

    Thank you, Redneck. As a fellow Dreamhost user, your tip was just what I needed!
