Support » Plugin: Otter - Gutenberg Blocks – Page Builder for Gutenberg Editor & FSE » When will this update to FontAwesome version 6?

Just as the title suggests, I can see this plugin is still using Font Awesome 5 with shims for 4. Is there a way for us to optimize it in settings to choose what version of FontAwesome we want or to discard the shims because we know our site does not use them?

    Hey @tessachu,

Thank you for using Otter. So far we don’t have any plans to change to FA6 but we will look into that. As long as things migrate quickly, it’ll not be an issue.

And I suppose we can remove shims or at least give an option to disable that. I’ll add this to our tasks and we will do it in an upcoming version.

    Thank you!

    Great, thanks!

That gives me a follow-up question and I can make it a separate support ticket if you’d like.

I’m curious then, do you have a hook or something where I could essentially add my own icon library to your block? Whether it be a different version of FontAwesome or some homegrown icon I make, I think it’d be cool to have that flexibility.

    Hi @tessachu!

Unfortunately, there is no way to add a different icon library to a block.

    Thanks for understanding!

    Boo, okay, thank you! πŸ™‚

Is it possible for Otter Block to connect to the Font Awesome plugin so that FA can be managed separately? FA6 has been out for a year already.

@zipzap99 If the prefix/suffix of the icon is there then it can be used easily. If not then not. We will update to the latest version of FA 5 soon but there are no plans for 6 right now unless the migration for 6 is easy for us to do without causing much chaos for existing users.
