1st way) Export all the content from dummy site to the live site,
then activate bulletproof plugin and all its setting.2nd way) activate bulletproof plugin and all its setting,
Export all the content from dummy site to the live site,
then update bulletproof settings again3rd way) activate bulletproof plugin and all its setting,
then Export all the content from dummy site to the live site.May i know which way do you think its a best? and why?

If it was me migrating/cloning a dev site to a Live site I would use these steps:
1. Deactivate Root and wp-admin BulletProof Modes on the old site.
2. Make a clone of the old site.
3. Clone the new site.
4. Go to BPS Custom Code and edit any custom htaccess code that needs to be changed/edited if necessary.
5. Run the Setup Wizard.Assuming all questions have been answered – the thread has been resolved. If you have additional questions about this specific thread topic then you can post them at any time. We still receive email notifications when threads have been resolved.
Hi ATIPro,
What if it isn’t a cloned site or an old site, its just a dummy site to create the design then transfer all content including design to the live site?
1) Transfer to dummy content to a new site
2. Go to BPS Custom Code and edit any custom htaccess code that needs to be changed/edited if necessary.
3). Run the Setup Wizard. (enable Root and wp-admin BulletProof Modes on live site)or

4) disable Root and wp-admin BulletProof Modes on new site
5) Run the Setup Wizard again. (enable the root and wp-admin again)or any other steps u think its good to include or edit or do if you were me?

Just FYI Info: The “dummy” site is technically called a “development” site. Copying files and/or db data to another site is technically called “migrating” or “migration”. A Live hosted site that is publicly viewable/accessible is technically called a “production” site vs a “development” site that you are working on that is not publicly viewable/accessible and that will eventually be migrated to a Live production site once development work is completed on the development site.
I think this is the best method and I have added some additional info to your steps:
1) Transfer to dummy content to a new site, except for the BPS root htaccess file (in your WordPress installation folder – same folder as the wp-config.php file) and the BPS wp-admin htaccess file (in the wp-admin folder).
2. Go to BPS Custom Code and edit any custom htaccess code that needs to be changed/edited if necessary.
3). Run the Setup Wizard. (enable Root and wp-admin BulletProof Modes on live site)Thanks AITpro for explaining.
I would like to ask what if the development site and live site is one single together?
How would the steps be like?
1) Install and run bulletproof plugin, the Setup Wizard. (enable Root and wp-admin BulletProof Modes on live site)
2) Go to BPS Custom Code and edit any custom htaccess code that needs to be changed/edited if necessary.
3) Creating the design content and install theme and plugins for the site, except for the BPS root htaccess file (in your WordPress installation folder – same folder as the wp-config.php file) and the BPS wp-admin htaccess file (in the wp-admin folder).
4) Run the Setup Wizard again. (enable Root and wp-admin BulletProof Modes on live site)or

What does this mean – “what if the development site and live site is one single together?”
Also I think you are making things much more complicated than they need to be. It only takes 1 minute to install and setup BPS completely. The only thing that takes significant additional time is BPS Custom Code. Custom Code has Export|Import capability. You can export all of your custom htaccess code and import all of your custom htaccess code using the Custom Export and Import feature.
Hi AITpro,
Thanks for pointing it out, what i mean its I’m creating the site on the domain, no development site needed to transfer. What is the best approach for it then?
How would the steps be like? (copied pasted above)
1) Install and run bulletproof plugin, the Setup Wizard. (enable Root and wp-admin BulletProof Modes on live site)
2) Go to BPS Custom Code and edit any custom htaccess code that needs to be changed/edited if necessary.

3) Go to BPS Custom Code and edit any custom htaccess code that needs to be changed/edited if necessary. There is no correct order for when to install BPS. So you can install the BPS plugin at any point and run the Setup Wizard. That choice is entirely up to you for when you want to install BPS and run the Setup Wizard.
On a new website setup, most people choose to install BPS first because that means that new website has security protection first.

Hi AItpro,
I’m aware there isn’t any order, lets say base on what you wrote earlier and latest,
1) Transfer to dummy content to a new site, except for the BPS root htaccess file (in your WordPress installation folder – same folder as the wp-config.php file) and the BPS wp-admin htaccess file (in the wp-admin folder).
2. Go to BPS Custom Code and edit any custom htaccess code that needs to be changed/edited if necessary.
3). Run the Setup Wizard. (enable Root and wp-admin BulletProof Modes on live site)If now the question change to the live and development site is one single one, no separate development site.
1) Install wordpress,
2) install the bullet proof plugin and activtate it
3) Go to BPS Custom Code and edit any custom htaccess code that needs to be changed/edited if necessary.
4). Run the Setup Wizard. (enable Root and wp-admin BulletProof Modes on live site)5) make changes to the websites
6) I will add any NEW custom htaccess code.
7) (do I run the set up wizard again or which part do I update?)
Question 1) : Is the order right if my question is development and live site is single one?
Question 2a) do I run the set up wizard again or which part do I update? ( if no new htaccess code added)
question 2b) do I run the set up wizard again or which part do I update? ( if new htaccess code added)
Migration|Clone:
1. Delete the Root and wp-admin htaccess files.
2. Clone the old site to the new site.
3. Edit or Add any custom htaccess code in Custom Code.
4. Run the Setup Wizard.New Installation:
1. Install the BPS plugin and activate it.
2. Edit or Add any custom htaccess code in Custom Code.
3. Run the Setup Wizard.or
New Installation:
1. Install the BPS plugin and activate it.
2. Run the Setup Wizard.
3. Edit or Add any custom htaccess code in Custom Code.It does not matter when you do things. That choice is up to you.
