[Resolved] What’s the deal with the first 2 categories?

Something just doesn’t add up. When I go to Manage Categories I see this.

    Note:
Deleting a category does not delete the posts and links in that category. Instead, posts that were only assigned to the deleted category are set to the category Uncategorized and links that were only assigned to the deleted category are set to Blogroll.

As far as I can tell, Blogroll just keeps the names of a bunch of blogs, why do those old categories go to something called Blogroll?

Since WP 2.1 (or 2.2) the earlier separate link categories and post categories tables were pulled together and every WP install has two default categories:
    Uncategorized for posts
    Blogroll for links
Deleting other categories will result, as you cleverly quoted, in assigning the posts of the deleted cat to > Uncategorized; and the links of the deleted link cat to Blogroll.
Note. Since the new category schema you can have in the same category posts AND links.
