  • Hello!

    What is the best way of changing wp-content/uploads path? Should I do it with a plugin, or some code?

    The disadvantage of a plugin is that it can stop working any time. The advantage is that it can be done with a single click.

    I don’t know that are pros and cons of using a code. The thing I know for sure is that I don’t like to be a plugin dependendt unless it’s necessarily.

    Any ideas? Thanks 🙂

    You can do this via a constant in wp-config.php:

    define(‘UPLOADS’, ‘wp-content/newpath’);

    What problem are you trying to solve by changing the path?

    Thanks! If I want to also remove the wp-content, the constant should be: define(‘UPLOADS’, ‘newspath’);
    I am right?

    I’m just trying to make the site look more professional and harden it for hackers.

    I think so (the path is relative to the site root), and this will do absolutely nothing to harden it.

    I’m not sure why you think it makes it look “more professional”. Looking at paths is the last thing I look at when judging a website.
