• Hey, people.

I’ve been working with WordPress for a while now, and I absolutely love it. I’ve created a couple online magazines based on WordPress in the recent past (Split Magazine and Nirali Magazine), and since then, I’ve been getting quite a few e-mails requesting me for a magazine-style WordPress theme.

I’ve finally decided to create and release a theme to the community. This is the first time I’m creating a theme for release to the general public (all my themes before this have been custom-made for clients) — what, according to you, makes a good WordPress theme (colours, specific features, compatibility with any specific plugins, stuff like that)? I’ll do my best to create a good theme based on your feedback 🙂

Thanks for your time. Bring on the suggestions!

hipincognito: The themes I’ve linked to above are custom-made for the respective clients and are not available for public use. Thanks for the kind words, though 🙂

the theme I want is essentially mudsugar.com

btw…are you available for custom work? if so how does one contact you?

You can email me at arun [at] split-magazine [dot] com.

Ok, so what you all essentially want is a widget-ready three-column theme, with support for Flickr, tagging, and Gravatars?

    Anything I’ve missed?

actually I would like to see a 4 column on the bottom with 2 columns combined on the upper half to have a featured story

    again like mudsugar.com

Any theme similar to Split’s or Nirali’s would be greatly appreciated as a public download.

Selfishly, I would love to see a public theme similar to Soxnest. http://soxnest.com/ … The key being, the theme allows a different way to utilize more widget areas in many more ways.

The banner image would be less than 50% the height of that theme’s image, though. (Maybe even two images, side by side.)

In the section below the banner image, the four most recent posts show only an excerpt. The two sections below that would be 3 widget areas and then three or four widget areas in the section below that one.

To me, that would be valuable theme that many people would be very grateful for … and you would be a hero. ;o)

Thanks for the post. It allowed me to dream.

AnthonyP: Mudsugar has a custom layout, and the sections on the home page, etc. are tailor-made to the site’s content. I am releasing a generic theme, so I can’t be that specific 🙂

plainsman: Soxnest.com’s layout is a little too cluttered for me, but I get what you’re saying. Thanks for the suggestion.

Anything else you’d like the theme to have? I’ll probably start work on this in about a week’s time, so please make all suggestions before then!

Yes, that’s done using a plug-in. I’ll make sure the theme is compatible with it.

Out of curiosity, which plug-in do you use to accomplish that?

I don’t have anything else to add to my “wish list,” but I just want to thank you again for being willing to do this, halfbloodprince

Arun check out this site good layout for magzine inda site hope this help you to create exciting theme .
and try to get will-spot feature post plugin which show feature post along with post image .

And would you like to see your tags in the form of a list, or a tag cloud?

some thing like Index .Not like cloud or List.

If it’s too many tag break in to two colum

Throng is pretty cool, is that in WP?

    RE: Mudsugar
like throng that is custom I know

but what I think people want is the ability to have content ‘buckets’ on the front page, sorted by category…each with x number of articles in them.

The big problem with WP is how it just puts all your articles on the front page in chron order. Wheras an mag style wants
    1. to put dif. categories into dif columns (perhaps even stacked columns)
    2. the ability to ‘highlight’ one or more stories as a ‘feature’

so even those those sites are custom…by setting up column ‘modules’ for category x, category y, etc. Is something I think everyone who likes mag style would want.

    thanks very much

btw. I sent you an email

    It’s n

    It’s n

Sorry for above post break [it’s happen offen to me]

well it’s not wp but durpal is ued i posted here just for design tip’s
