What would be a good hook to use to track site visits? | WordPress.org

I am developing my own plugin to count site visits. What would be a good hook to use for this (https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/hooks/)? I want to record the user, url and timestamp.

Why do you want to reinvent the wheel?

I’d recommend putting it in the footer. You could use wp_footer to hook in and insert your code or do your tracking once it is loaded. https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/hooks/wp_footer/

The simple reason is that this is for an internal company-only blog. Most plugins I have seen send data about the website to remote servers and we want none of that. If there is a plugin that does not require us to create an account with company XYZ and send data to XYZ servers we’d be happy to use that – please let us know.
