If it is a new domain – you MUST install/move the WP installation to that domain.
No redirects and similar tricks will work with WP. Domain poitning will also not work properly with WP.
The two URI values are stored in the blog’s database, don’t mess with them.

Thank you, but I think I didn’t explain very well my problem: I’m not changing server, just the domain. Il’try to better explain what I’m doing.
Now my blog is http://stranenews.awardspace.com
I’m chaning the domain to http://notizie.delmondo.info
The new domain is pointing, server-side, on the exact same installation of wordpress. If I type in a browser the new domain (http://notizie.delmondo.info) I get redirected to the old one (http://stranenews.awardspace.com), since this one it’s set in General Options” – WordPress address (URL) and Blog address (URL). I’d need to know how WP does this redirect, if it’s a 301 or something else.
See above:

Doc75: I know what you’re trying to do, I am trying to do the same thing.
I have a site with the year 2008 in the url, now it is 2009 I bought a new domain and want to use that for the existing blog but I am having the same problem as Doc75. The blog is on the same host and has all the same files and settings so when I type in the new domain, it changes the url back to the old one.
This is not what I want, I want the new 2009 domain name to keep all the juice from the 2008 domain. how is that done?
I know I can change the settings in wordpress to use the new url but it doesn’t keep any of the page rank, i want to be able to 301 redirect from the old 2008 domain to the new 2009 domain.
moshu: please don’t repeat your answer to me
Use a 301 redirect on the old domain to redirect to the new. For instructions and examples, try a Google search for: 301 redirect
