I’m having a problem with comments being posted right after submission. I have all the settings set for an approval process before they are posted.

Is this something that is ongoing or is this something that is not fixable.

    Thanks,

Make sure you picked the right setting.

The screenshot here shows the setup to only flags comments for moderation if it’s their first comment: http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/7610/screenshot20100108at8ja.png

You sound like you want the other one marked 🙂

Okay I tested out a few of our post pages and comments are still being displayed without moderation.

On the admin side the comment come in as usual with the approval notice. As if it hasn’t posted yet.

Is there anywhere I can check other than the admin settings to see if this is set up right??? We need to have this in place.

    Thank you!

Just an FYI we have a custom theme… I don’t know if that would have any implications on the moderation of comments.

Well, yourblog.com/wp-admin/options-discussion.php is where all the settings for that are saved. I’m fairly certain themes CAN override those settings, with functions etc, but I doubt they would.

You can read all about the settings here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_Discussion_SubPanel

Yeah I don’t know if that file tells me anything really regarding the actual checking of the comment.

I do appreciate the help. I wonder what the problem could be??

Is anyone else having this same problem???

Well I don’t think that file is going to help me out really.

Is anyone else having this same problem???

Sorry for the double post it didn’t show up when I clicked the first time.

    webmasterIFCJ,

It would help if you could send us a screenshot of your Discussion Settings.

    Yes,

Okay that sounds like a plan here you go:

Please let me know if you see anything funny.

Do you happen to know if the unmoderated comments are coming from registered users? Or have you confirmed that any anonymous visitor can bypass moderation?

I just put in a test comment at Stand for Israel. It was definitely held for moderation. So is it working as expected, or is there a different type of comment that’s still slipping through?

So when you posted did you receive a notice that your post is going through a moderation process?

Did it show up as soon as you posted something?

    Matt

    (@webmasterifcj)

Okay I see what is going on. I would see something come up as soon as I responded but if i were to visit that same page from another browser and or comp then I don’t see anything.

I was just thrown off by the response.

    Okay all good.
