    Two question now:
    1. Should I now revert to my back up of the config file/remove the line of code I added?
    2. What does this result below mean, and do I need to take further action?

My installation suddenly gave a database error, so I followed instructions to add line to config file, and ran the database repair and got this output, which it told me to come and post here. The site seems to be working despite the error messages below.

wp_usermeta: 8 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly
wp_posts: 12 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly
wp_comments: 368 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly
wp_links: 2 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly
wp_options: Table is marked as crashed
wp_postmeta: 4 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly
wp_terms: 1 client is using or hasn’t closed the table properly
wp_term_taxonomy: 3 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly
wp_term_relationships: 4 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly
wp_commentmeta: 516 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly

Would you please quote the database error you initially received?

    “Error establishing a database connection”

Then I tried to go to /wp-admin, it gave me instructions to modify the config file. So I did that, ran the repair as instructed and it resulted in the messages above.

Then the site worked for a bit. Then got the same error again later, I repeated the process, and site worked again.

I logged into cpanel and ran checks and repairs on both databases for the installation.

    Thanks for any help!

Ok, something is tanking the database.

First, remove the modification you made to wp-config.php. Then, access your WordPress database via phpMyAdmin (most hosting providers offer this in their control panel), check all of the tables, and choose “Repair tables” from the pull-down menu.

Once you’re back in, try deactivating all plugins for maybe the night (or however long it takes for the problem to usually re-appear). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

Thank you for these troubleshooting steps!

I ran the repair table command on both databases, all tables selected, and the result was just OK for everything.

I see that the plug-in Social Media Feather had an update available, I wonder if this related to the errors I posted above which seem to be about posts and comments…

That’s possible, maybe let the site run for the day without that plugin.

Thanks again! I’ll start a new thread if I can’t resolve with these tips.
