Support » Plugin: Amazon AWS CDN » What should be the DNS entry for custom CDN doman?

  • Resolved Hello

    (@themophiles)

Suppose my site name is https://wpadmin.ca/ and I want to use custom CDN domain https://cdn.wpadmin.ca/ to server CDN files.

So, what should be my DNS entry for https://cdn.wpadmin.ca/ if I use Cloudflare to manage my DNS?

Should I use CNAME type with name cdn.wpadmin.ca and points it to Amazon CDN url like d2uz0pmfjfjvitfo.cloudfront.net ?

I tried but I am getting this error – “403 ERROR The request could not be satisfied.
Bad request. We can’t connect to the server for this app or website at this time.” when I try to open https://cdn.domain.com

    Kindly help.

    Thanks.

    Hello @themophiles

That is the correct process. CDN.yourdomain name should be a cname pointing to d2uz0pmfjfjvitfo.cloudfront.net.

    What is the website address?

    Thread Starter Hello

Oh! I tried the same thing but it’s not working.

I can’t write the website name here to avoid website indexing. So, Kindly check this screenshot where I have shared my website name, DNS entry screenshot and error screenshot, which I am getting.

Here is the screenshot – https://a.cl.ly/d5upAZ84

I have currently disabled the custom CDN domain option from the website because of this issue and using d2uz0pmfjfjvitfo.cloudfront.net directly which is working working except the fact that fonts and social icons are not appearing. I have tried the method explained here – https://github.com/fontello/fontello/wiki/How-to-setup-server-to-serve-fonts but no luck.

Anyways, let’s first resolve the cdn custom domain issue here and then we will discuss why CORS headers setting is no working.

    Looking for your help. Thanks.

If the Amazon provided domain works then I think the issue might be some place else.

Is there any DNS / security settings on cloudflare?

    Thread Starter Hello

    (@themophiles)

No. I don’t use Cloudflare Proxy. I mean, any cloudflare settings will be effective only if I use Cloudflare proxy CDN ( means orange cloud enabled ) but I use Cloudflare only for DNS management for this website. So, that should not be an issue.

One thing to note here. While the SSL for cdn.domain.com is already validated ( screenshot – https://a.cl.ly/jkuDPxnv ) why the connection to site is saying not secure. Kindly try to open my site cdn domain https://cdn.domain.com ( replace domain with my actual website name) and see if you can get some clue for this.

    Any help will be apprecited.

    Regards.

To check everything from scratch, I disabled CDN from wordpress. I disabled and deleted distribution from AWS cloudfront dashboard and I also reset configuration.

But now, when I tried to “Create configuration’ via plugin again, it gives following error –

    WPAdmin AWS CDN Setup
Error:Error executing “CreateDistribution” on “https://cloudfront.amazonaws.com/2018-11-05/distribution”; AWS HTTP error: Client error: POST https://cloudfront.amazonaws.com/2018-11-05/distribution resulted in a 409 Conflict response: Sender< (truncated…) CNAMEAlreadyExists (client): One or more aliases specified for the distribution includes an incorrectly configured DNS record that points to another CloudFront distribution.
