What services do you pay for to set up a website and maintain it, as a hobby

I have been maintaining a travel blog site for several years. Essentially, it is a travel blog site and a photo journal. I do it as a hobby, using it as a writing pad and an open diary.
This is the third design, and none seem to have worked properly or professionally. I paid developers to design and set it up, paying an annual subscription for the domain name and a monthly fee to the hosting company. I do not pay a monthly retainer fee to developer companies because this is only a hobby and there are not many activities to justify it. I am not a coder, so when technical issues arise or when bugs surfaced, getting help is difficult.
I like to hear from WordPress users and bloggers on this forum, especially those doing it for fun, about how you set up your website and maintain it. What kind of services do you pay for?
Ps – I am also planning to re-design my website (for a 4th time).
Your advice will be much appreciated.
