    Hi everyone

I just installed Apache, PHP, mariaDB(MySQL) and WordPress on my laptop(with linux) to work locally. Right now I’m able to go to http://localhost/~juanpa and see WP welcome page, I even can log in to http://localhost/~juanpa/wp-admin and install and activate my own Them without problem. However I cannont update my theme (Genesis/Manhattan). WP asked me for the ftp information.

so what I have done so far is adding this line “define(‘FS_METHOD’, ‘direct’);” in /wp-config.php file and add those folder into http group and delete everything and install it again without succeeded.

my question is what king of permission or configurations the wp folder should have?

NOTE: one thing that I noticed was the first time I installed WP I had to modify /wp-config.php manually and the second time the program did it for me

    705. I usually just manually download and copy themes into my local WP installs so that I always have a fresh copy of the original files on hand while I’m customizing themes.

Sorry, I meant to more clear. 705 should be the permissions 🙂

I did that the first time, the problem is that I cannot download the latest version. The only way (that I have right now) is to update the copy of my theme that I have
