  • I am an administrator of a website: http://www.humayunakhtarkhan.com/.
Our website is hosted on the BlueHost.com.

Please advise me about the most secure way for WordPress Upgrade.

According to my observation, there are only two ways for WordPress Upgrade.
1 – SimpleScripts Security Updates Via c panel of bluehost.com
2 – Manuel Upgrade via WordPress Dashboard

    What is your suggestion?

  • There are more than 2 ways to upgrade WordPress, none of which have any significant security benefits over the others.

Check out the documentation first to understand what needs to be done.

Most importantly, backup your site, including the database, before you upgrade.

+1 to fonglh suggestion to BACK IT UP! in fact back it up twice if you really don’t know what you’re doing.

It somewhat depends on how the site was initially installed. If you used the host provided installer then I suggest you use it to do upgrades.

if you installed manually, then the update button in wp-admin should do it.

You could also download a clean copy of WordPress and upload the files using ftp but that would be the last resort in my opinion.

One of the most important things to keep your site secure is to upgrade to the latest version of software such as WordPress, themes, plugins, etc. But your site seems to be still running on old software (WordPress v 3.3.1).
