i think it is the plugin backtype that drives the twitter blurb. i went to the backtype site and it generated a new api and so replaced the old api with this new one. don’t know where i got the old backtype api. the akismet api is different too. not sure how these api’s work. i would have thought they would all be the same.
i deactivated backtype during the api exchange last night then reactivated. today noticing a lot of twitter comments were lost in this process.
i have observed in other sites that backtype generated comments have the twitter avatar and there’s no “not found” blurb next to the username.

In my comments the gravatars are gone and the what appears to be the twitter username says “not found”
then within the comment there is the post title and exerpt. all of this followed by the blurb “This comment was originally posted on Twitter”
i can’t figure out what plugin is driving this issue to correct it. or this is not a plugin but the twitterfeed service ?
