    If I link to this entry on Facebook, the link displays a nice excerpt from the post.

    If I link to this entry on another site, then it just displays the ugly stuff below the comment box about “You may use these HTML tags and attributes:” etc. It doesn’t even display anything from the entry body.

    At first I thought it might be because the first site uses a great theme that generates meta description tags based on the entry, but I installed a plugin on the second site to manually generate a meta description tag, and it didn’t seem to change what gets displayed when linked.

  • Apparently FB cache’s the thumbnail. Still no idea why when there is no meta description, it chooses that particular snippet to display instead of something from the actual content body.

    Ah, it apparently looks for the biggest chunk of text, maybe. If my entry is just a single word, then the link preview shows the text below the comment box. If my entry is longer then the preview shows that.
